UMEZ Provides Line of Credit to Savann

GJF Café Associates LLC d.b.a. Savann is an authentic Mediterranean restaurant located on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, between 122nd and 123rd Streets. Savann occupies a 2,500-square-foot space as well as outdoor patio seating. The menu consists of Turkish appetizers, homemade breads, grilled and sautéed meats, fish, vegetarian dishes, pasta and rice dishes, salads, and homemade desserts.

Galip Ozbek is an experienced proprietor and business operator with more than thirty years of experience in the food service industry. Prior to Savann, Mr. Ozbek has worked as a Chef for Japan Airlines, Executive Chef at Pescatori, and Executive Chef at the Mayflower Hotel. In 2013, he moved his operation from the Upper West Side to the current location on Frederick Douglass Boulevard. In 2013, Mr. Ozbek obtained a term loan from UMEZ enabling him to relocate to Harlem and build-out Savann’s current location. He repaid that loan last year.

Mr. Ozbek subsequently applied for a Line of Credit. On January 18, 2019, Mr. Ozbek closed on a revolving Line of Credit. The Line of Credit will be used for working capital. UMEZ is proud to continue supporting a neighborhood favorite on Frederick Douglass Boulevard’s Restaurant Row.
